In the seminar Computational Design and Digital Fabrication ITECH students are asked to build a “useless machine” in order to familiarize themselves with the design, construction and programming of robotic systems. The Brawler Crawler simulates a naughty cat by roaming around a tabletop and knocking items off the edge, while never falling off itself. Later, the machine got upgraded to a less-useless incarnation as the Drifty Drafter, a mobile robot that is able to leave a paint trail behind it as it moves through an environment.
